Truckload Price Variance Maps

Equipment Type:

Yellow Key Headhaul (Premium truckload rates)

Blue Key Intermediate Haul (Average truckload rates)

Red Key Backhaul (Discounted truckload rates)

Geographic areas with high volume shippers require more trucks than areas where there is little or no production. Shippers are willing to pay a premium to carriers to make sure their loads get hauled. In geographic areas where there are a lot of consumers but little production, there is not enough freight to fill all of the trucks that brought the inbound loads, and carriers must discount the rates. Truckload rates fluctuate based on the differences between the supply and demand for trucks in a particular area. Different types of freight require different equipment types. The interactive maps illustrate the fluctuation of rates between geographic areas for each different equipment type.
